Licensing

College of the Rockies Library, individually and through consortia, signs individual licensing agreements with vendors and publishers for access to electronic resources such as databases and ejournals.

Each resource has its own licensing agreement. These licences are contracts that regulate the reproduction and use of their content in addition to the requirements of the regulatory agreements mentioned above. Some licences may impose further restrictions on the use and reproduction of works and some may waive them.

The rule-of-thumb is that contractual obligations take precedence over the other agreements mentioned below. If you are unsure of the terms of use for content from our databases and e-resources, please consult the Permissions on the Library's A-Z Database list or see Sue Morin, x.3407 in the Library.

The Canadian Copyright Act, our Access Copyright license and the Fair Dealing Policy also specify limitations on what, how much, the purpose and the means by which copyrighted materials can be reproduced.
