When you use the work of others and do not cite the source, you are committing a form of academic dishonesty or misconduct..
Academic dishonesty or misconduct, and plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Claiming someone else's words, thoughts, or ideas as your own, even if you paraphrase or summarize them!
- Copying material straight from a book, journal, newspaper, article, online discussion, Web page or other source
- Using someone else's words, thoughts, or ideas in a presentation and not acknowledging the source
- Using another student's paper or a paper and claiming it as your own
- Submitting the same paper for two classes even if the paper is your own
- Downloading or using images or music created by someone else without acknowledging the creator
- Copying code to create a Web page or application
- Letting a friend or classmate use your paper for their assignment
- Having someone translate your work into English before you submit it to your instructor
- Using a paper that you found on the Internet and submitting it as your own
- Paying someone to write your paper
