FoD: Business & Economics Videos is an online streaming media service available to College of the Rockies students, faculty and staff.
The collection gives access to more than 2300 titles, providing practical and theoretical information about business education, business ethics, human resources management, finance, and marketing. Its global perspective is of special note.
Films can be used for class assignments, shown during class, and shared with others through COTROnline (Moodle) and email. Additional special features include the ability to organize and bookmark clips, share playlists, and store quick links to favorite videos.
Creating a playlist is simple in Films on Demand.
First, log into your account by selecting Your Profile on the top menu bar:
If you do not have a personal account with FoD, you will need to select Sign Up.
Once logged in, you can then select the video you want to add to a playlist.
You will then get the menu, as shown below, where you can select to add either the entire video or selected segments to your playlist. You can add the video to either an existing playlist, if you have one, or create a new playlist and add it right from the menu.
You can access all your playlists via your profile.
You can share FoD content with others with links to videos, segments, or playlists. Faculty can paste links in COTROnline (Moodle).
The Custom Segment tool allows users to select portions of a full title and create their own custom segments. The custom segments can then be viewed on that title's View Video page, added to a playlist, or embedded into a third party website.
To get started:
1. Click on below the video.
2. Choose your segment start and end points. These can be entered manually or dropped in using the start and stop buttons that sync to the video player.
3. Enter a title and description for your segment and then click the create segment button.
4. The segment will now appear in the Segment tab on the right hand side of video player.
5. Segments can be viewed in the player by clicking on them. They can also be deleted by clicking on the trash can icon that appears next to the Segment title.
6. Segments can be shared using the Playlist and Embed icons that appear below the player.
Note: This is an advanced feature and is only available to users that have created free personal user accounts.
If enabled, custom segments can be created from custom content as well. Your account must have custom content, and the permission to create custom segments for a given title must be enabled.
